Some new supporters and shoppers might know about us through Jason Cai's post on Park $2 Project (P2P) facebook group! Thank you Jason once again for sharing about Jojo and many thanks for everyone's support of Jojo's Creation. Jojo is greatly encouraged by all the kind words, page likes and orders that she has received! She is highly motivated & even talking about coming out with a new collection in the upcoming school holidays in preparation for the Christmas season ahead, so stay tuned!

We received some orders in the past few weeks from all of you who are preparing Teacher's Day Gifts! JoJo had a lot of fun making the bracelets and also made a few for her teachers at Mountbatten Vocational School! Catch JoJo in action below!

A huge thank you to those who came down to support the Singapore Special Voices - Singapore Special Community (SSV) performance. Thank you to those who bought bracelets at our booth at Gallop Carnival 2019! 50% of the proceeds from the sales yesterday goes to the SSV funds.

Jojo has graduated from Grace Orchard School, marking a key educational milestone in her life where she has spent the last 10 years there. Happy memories of her best friends, teachers/therapists as well as the warm and friendly environment will be with her always.

After months of rehearsals and preparations, the Singapore Special Voices (SSV) performed at The Purple Parade 2019. Jojo was proud to be part of the performance and the marching contingent. Catch the performance in the video above.

About The Purple Parade 2019

THE PURPLE PARADE is a unifying national platform to promote awareness and celebrate abilities of persons with special needs. The core of The Purple Parade movement is to ensure that people with special needs are included in the main chapter of Singapore’s growth and have equal access to education, employment, transport and social networks. The VISION is for the spirit of the movement to continue for many more years to come; and for the special needs community to be fully included, valued and celebrated in our country. Hitting the 7th year mark this year, THE PURPLE PARADE was held at Suntec City (outdoor spaces between Tower 1 & Tower 5), where the traditional march-past Contingent will take the form of a street parade for the fourth time. Supporters was also be able to purchase one-of-a-kind handmade items by persons with special needs at the Carnival, enjoy unique purple food and beverages, score exclusive Purple Parade merchandise, bond over interactive games, and enjoy an inclusive Concert!

Catch Joanna's performance with Singapore Special Voices - Singapore Special Community (SSV) at the 5th Enabling Employers Award Ceremony by SG Enable.

Jojo joined SSV earlier this year as she loves music and movement. She has since performed in several community events. The Enable Song even has a verse that is inspired by Jojo's love and creativity for making bracelets (1:05 - 1:30)

In this event, it was also announced that SG Enable will make it easier for social enterprises and businesses who hire persons with disabilities to start up in our HDB housing estates, in order to bring job opportunities closer to home.

“Never Give Up! I Can Do It!” That is Joanna’s mantra in her Work Experience (WE) Programme. Eighteen-year-old Joanna Chang has a dream of regaining independent mobility – to be able to walk normally and go out with her friends. But, her long history of uncontrolled seizures, heavy epileptic medication dosages and brain operations, has resulted in muscle weakness on the left side of her body. Currently, Joanna is undergoing intensive therapy sessions to strengthen her core muscles.

However, these challenges have not stopped her from giving her best in her WE Programme. Learning to string beads on beading wire to create fashion accessories, Joanna never gives up, despite the initial futile attempts. Gradually she has learnt to use her right hand to balance and string the beads together to form beautiful bracelets.

Creations from the heart - Joanna shows great patience and pride to complete every piece of her work. Each bracelet is uniquely handcrafted, from colour scheme to mixing and matching of different kinds of beads. Joy radiates from Joanna's face when she sees her customers wearing and appreciating her craftwork. Our students and staff can support Joanna’s handcrafted bracelets which are available for purchase at the GOS Thrift Shop.
